Auditions: Separate is Never Equal

Sunday, April 24th:

The Rochester Latino Theatre Company, Inc. invites you to audition for our next production directed by Don Bartalo! We are seeking a diverse cast: Latinos, African American, Causasian, etc.

21 ACTORS
Three Latina girls (age 9 to 12)
Three Latino boys (age 9 to 12)
Four Latino men
Four Latino women
Six Anglo men
One Anglo woman

The little girl at the center of this true story is Sylvia Mendez, a child in the 40’s of Mexican and Puerto-Rican descent, who was not allowed to attend a “White’s Only” school. was the daughter of parents who looked forward to sending her to the school near their newly leased farm. When her aunt attempted to register the family children, they were directed to the “Mexican school,” despite proficiency in English and citizenship.

Performances are June 10th, 11th & 12th at MuCCC Theater

No preparation needed. You will be given sides to read from.

Elvira: The Immigration Play

Based on the true life story of Elvira Arellano, the play presents an imaginary encounter between an I.C.E. (Immigration & Customs Enforcement) agent and Elvira. As the interrogation unfolds, the audience is taken on a journey that shows the tragic plight of immigrants and is transported into the world of the disenfranchised.
